What rang through your mind the second your name was called as the winner?
One of the best moments I have ever experienced was when I was announced as the new ANTSO National Miss. What seemed like hours, had only been seconds as I made my way to the middle of the stage to wait to be awarded crown and banner that I would wear throughout my reign. Beginning my first walk as ANTSO National Miss down the long runway, I began to realize what had just happened, and thought of all the new and exciting opportunities that were sure to come my way. At the end of the runway I saw my mother, family, and state directors who proudly screamed my name, and displayed how happy they were with smiles of joy. As I turned around to make my way back to the stage, I was embraced by all the state queens who had competed for the title. The hugs and words of congratulations I received from them meant a lot, because they understood how excited I was. They encouraged me about how wonderful my year was going to be, and said I was the best person to represent them. The response I got from the crowd, the state title holders, and my family was more than I expected, and certainly more than I had hoped for. Few moments in life make you experience emotions like I felt then. I am thankful I was able to experience a moment like that for myself. Even now, as I am on the plane or on the road to my next appearance or parade, I take myself back to that moment, and experience the emotions all over again. It’s the best daydream a girl could ever ask for.
